Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position is accountable for optimizing the effectiveness of the plant organization by increasing the capabilities & optimizing the talents of its employees.
Responsible for providing assistance in coordinating the design & implementation of the plans, systems & programs that allow employees to satisfy their needs for job security, engagement, recognition & achievement in the pursuit of the organizational objectives.
Acting as a consultant, the HR Specialist will guide managers in consistent applications of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (as appropriate) & HR systems & policies.
The incumbent creates win-win situations between floor level associates & Goodyear management by listening & planning methods of resolution strategies.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership consultation and team member advocacy as a Human Resources (HR) representative in one of the three plant business centers.
- Ensure fair and equitable implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Audit due diligence to ensure provincial employment standards are met.
- Conduct all activities as per the guidelines of the Company's Code of Conduct.
- Facilitate conflict resolution issues.
- Spend daily time on the floor to obtain face-to-face feedback from team members.
- Provide leadership with “Pulse” feedback through daily time spent in the production area while maintaining team member confidentiality.
- Assist managers in their relationships with team members and with their consistent application of Goodyear Napanee policies.
- Develop and manage clearly defined deliverables for HR team scorecard.
- Assist in the development and auditing of Human Resources systems in the plant.
- Develop strategies for improvement in a participative, non-union environment.
- Actively support Plant Optimization and Continuous Skills Development.
- Willing to work flexible hours in supporting a 24/7 operation.
Education:
4-year Degree
Experience:
0-5 years' experience in the application of HR systems, or education in HR discipline with co-op, part-time or internship experience in HR.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of union &/or non-union environments as well as the Ontario Human Rights and ESA legislation
- Thorough knowledge of HR functions & the overall company structure.
- Knowledge of in-plant policies including Plant HR systems or collective bargaining agreements & Goodyear policies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with solid verbal & written communication abilities.
- Solid research & analytical skills.
